Product And Brand Designer

We are looking for a Product Designer to work on various products (mainly watches) we develop.

Product Designer responsibilities include defining product specifications, creating digital or print drawings and designing fully-functional products. To be successful in this role, you should have an eye for colour and shape and be able to translate requirements into practical product features. Ultimately, you will help us build products that are easy to use and visually appealing to our potential customers.

You have the chance to be one of our first team members, working together closely with our founder and experience hands-on how to scale a successful start-up. Sekoni Original is a watch start-up based in Singapore dedicated to making quality and beautiful timepieces. Our mission is to see a world where your character can be accurately represented through the things you wear. In 2021, we will be releasing 3 new design series and are actively expanding our team to meet our growing brand audience.

Responsibilities
Identify opportunities for new products/designs
Analyze how a new product ties in with market needs and consumer preferences
Set design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external partners
Research materials and techniques
Sketch drafts on paper or digitally (for example, using CAD)
Use 3D modelling software to design products and components
Produce prototypes and test functionality (we prototype through 3D printing initially so experience with 3D printing will be useful)
Improve the design of existing products
Gather feedback from product users
Alongside the team, design the look, feel, and narrative of the Sekoni brand
Assist marketing team in designing collaterals to ensure that it is inline with branding

Work experience as a Product Designer or similar role (Preferable)
Experience in industrial design
Creativity in mixing up colours, shapes and techniques
Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools
Good knowledge of 3D modelling software
Experience with design programs (like Illustrator and Photoshop)
Time-management skills

BSc/MSc in Product Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Design Engineering or relevant field
This is a 9-month SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme. It is a full-time role and is NOT applicable to individuals who:
Graduated from the Institute of Technical Education, Polytechnics, Autonomous Universities or other education institutions in CY19/20; or
Completed national service in CY19/20 and graduated from the above educational institutions
Duration of Attachment Offered: 9 months, with the possibility of a full-time conversion after completion of attachment.
Eligibility Criteria for SGUP-EA
All Singaporeans and Permanent Residents are eligible for the programme, with the exception of recent graduates (Graduation in 2019 or 2020) who should apply for the SGUnited Traineeships Programme instead.
